Yoyi’s obsession with cars and trucks (thanks Blippi!) inspired my idea to decorate the playroom as a car garage. Well, it is now more like a truck/train/car garage but surely such a cute combo. As always, I bought a couple of things and built on from there considering the overall idea and colors.
The initial items included these trucks from HobbyLobby
And this cute play sign
My favorite item is this toolbox Jorge made for the boys. Using a dresser, some stick on vinyl, and a couple of pieces of hardware, it was a quick and easy project.
I am truly hoping that the dresser and this cute tire storage chest can contain the never ending toys. So far, we don’t have as many on the floor as we did before. Mostly because it’s harder to empty all the drawers at the same time, like they used to do with the baskets.
Other cute simple decor items included the rug, which I bought with the dream that the boys would race their cars on the tracks (yet to happen), and the collector’s lamp. I loved this one from Pottery Barn Kids but it was a bit expensive. Especially considering that the baby has tried to pull the cord several times already. I combined these two pieces from Target and Lowes to make it for a fraction of the price.
Here are all the items we used to decorate this eye catching wall. The paint is chalk paint so we can write on the wall in the future. It was my initial idea to make it a shop repair board but we ended up deciding on the Ikea train tracks.
A before and after of the room. The last makeover was about a year ago and at the time I loved how it looked. I can see how the boys have grown and how their likes and dislikes have changed. And of course, just in time for the reveal of the room, they are now showing interest in dinosaurs. Wish me luck!
