Christmas

Counting the days until Christmas eve.

I love Christmas time; the decorating, gift wrapping, and most of all the magic of the season. While this love has been long standing, it has taken a while for me to start creating our family holiday traditions. I experimented with different ones throughout the years but rarely found myself going back to them. Last year, however, I was determined to start building the Muro Family’s Christmas tradition’s playbook, and just decided to go all magic and include them all. Yes, that sounds a little overwhelming but I can assure you it’s very fun. The best part, this idea comes with a well thought out plan for how to accomplish the 25,000 Christmas activities. As a to do list enthusiast, I created a countdown for each day in December leading to Christmas morning. You have simple activities, family activities, competitions, fun dancing, and relaxing movie watching.

Here is an outline of our countdown:

Each day, we come together as a family and enjoy an hour or two of fun activities. I considered the weekends this year for Christmas pictures because those can take hours. Most of the other activities can be done near dinner time or in the afternoon. However, you could switch your days around to fit your family’s schedule or do a weekly countdown instead.

Here are some pictures of last year’s fun.

Some of the activities that brought me the most joy were:

-Movie night

-Making ornaments

-Driving around to see the Christmas lights

-And because I like the torture: Christmas pictures

You can print each of the days in individual squares and add them to your advent calendar or display them on a garland. Angie made the cutest graphics to accompany each of the days.

Here is a pdf version that will make printing easier:

I hope you enjoy these ideas and they bring happiness and cheerful memories to your family. I will be documenting our experiences this year on my instagram
