Singing happy birthday to my little one does not seem real. How has a whole year gone by so quickly? I feel like I just met him a couple of days ago and I love him like I’ve known him my whole life. Pretty sure I am not making sense at this point, but what is motherhood if not a constant state of confusion. Toni is 1, and he is having the time of his life licking everything he finds on his way and putting on everyone’s shoes.

This cutie does not care about a party, because he is 1, but surely knows that when we sing happy birthday is time to clap. So, I obviously had to celebrate the clapping with a little party that took 3 hours to prep and was enjoyed for half an hour.

After searching Pinterest for cute first year ideas, we settled on One in a Minion. We kept it simple and stuck to the usual balloons, banners and cake routine that rules first birthdays in this household.

Balloon arches have become an obsession of mine. I love how easy they are to put together. They are also surprisingly inexpensive and can really add to your decor. Here is ours for the party with the traditional blue, yellow, and white. I usually hang them on the same space in my house, and I am often annoyed by the blinds, which I decided to cover this time with some streamers. On the other side, we added the words One in a Minion and some minion cutouts.

Angie decorated some yellow hats with minion goggles and we all wore them for some pictures.

Lastly, I bought a simple cake and added the cutest topper. I am the worst at ordering cakes, and I often end up with a Publix cake that I struggle to decorate. For this event, I am going to call this a win since it looked really nice and Jorge said the cake was great.

As this was a great opportunity for some matching outfits, I made the boys a one in a minion shirt that I paired with some dark jean shorts. I really wanted to add suspenders to resemble overalls but the boys did not like them.

The best part of the party was Toni eating his celebratory cupcake. He was so absolutely happy. Did not make a big mess, did not explore the cupcake, did not wonder what was inside. Grabbed it, ate it, and was a little excited after from all the sugary sprinkles.

And just like that he is no longer a baby. May this year continue to be the happiest of time for you, little one. We love you!
